Christian DIor Pre Collection

Pre Collections are the time of year that a designer gets to give the world a insight into what they are planning on creating for the full collection this season saw Raf Simons create 66 looks for his pre season show, The collection was show on a yellow boat. (I wonder if the is in reference to the yellow submarine). This collection featured many coats, so maybe this is the season for a wardrobe of coats. We will have to wait to see what other designers are thinking to decide if it’s a season about the coat.

Fashion is a very spending thing.

Fashion is a very spending thing.

Fashion when is expectable to buy and when does it become too much. Fashion is something that is ever changing with there being spring summer shows, autumn winter shows every year but this isn’t the even the start to it with pre season collection twice a year, are the likes of Chanel creating up to nine shows a year. People make it their mission in life to collect as much of a designers works as the possibly can. Surly there has to be limits to this is it really a good idea to have whole collection from a catwalk sat in your wardrobe. Reality is do we as the consumer really wear these clothes that often. I myself don’t have a huge collection but the reality I find is that you don’t wear the clothes that much or is that the whole point to these clothes that it is the fact that you are able to afford them but you don’t need to wear the that often to show that you have money.

Surly having the ability to buy items of designer clothing is something to be enjoyed. I myself enjoy and love ever piece that I own, and ever piece i have I look to see where it has been made and what the care instruction are. Sadly I have meet people that don’t seem to have the same level of respect that I have for the things I have. I once watch a fashion documentary where one of the ladies in the piece sad that it is one thing to own the clothes but its more then knowing the clothes its understanding them know how they are made and what they are made off. One question I find interesting to ask people that have fur coats or handbag made from exotic skins is what animal is it made with and watch there response when they say oh I don’t know I just liked it so I brought it, which for me I struggle to understand as to just say oh I liked it instead of being educated about the item that they own. If you are going to own a piece of fur or exotic skin at least be able to have the knowledge of what it is made off.

Fashion is something that changes so often that to keep up must mean that you don’t wear these clothes that much, with one show having and where from 20 looks a show to 70 looks. So for some of the larger fashion house that have 70 looks a show and up to nine shows and year that could total up to 630 looks a year that is a lot of outfits, more days then are in the year so is it really and good idea to try to keep up with what the fashion houses are doing or would it be better to go in to a store that is a particular favourite and buy one or two outfits a season and really treasure those instead of having 40-50 piece that don’t get worn very often and that you forget what you have. Although having a collection is nice.

I believe that fashion is something that you should have fun with and some of the most fashionable people that I have meet in life are the ones that can buy some of the most expensive piece in the world and wear them with some of the cheapest piece ever so mixing and Alexander McQueen skirt with a Primark t shirt, and jewels from Cartier to Accessorises. But just make sure that these piece make an outing now and again. Remember that is for buy more key piece instead of the high fashion items in a few seasons time you can dig them back out as vintage pieces or wait until that tread reappears and wear it then, and fingers crossed not that many people will have it.

Have Fun with Fashion.
